Getting to Rhodes

Rhodes is a highly accessible destination, as the local airport is one of the largest Greek destinations for European low-cost and charter airlines.
And thanks to its proximity to the mainland, the island is also easily accessible by ferries from Turkey and, of course, from the surrounding islands.
There is also frequent boat traffic to the port of Piraeus near Athens.
Rhodes is part of Greece and therefore part of the European Union, so you do not need a passport to travel to Rhodes if you are a citizen of the European Union. In that case, a normal ID card will suffice.

By boat and ferry
Rhodes is one of Greece's largest islands and therefore has a large number of boat lines from the surrounding islands and the Greek mainland. The ferries carry cars and single passengers.
There is only one major passenger port on the island, in the largest town of Rhodes. The exception is for trips to the Chalki islet, which depart from the small port of Skala Kameirou (sometimes also Kamiros Skala) on the west side of the island.
Generally, when travelling without a car, it is possible to get a boat ticket at the port before departure. If you are driving, it is advisable to book your ticket online, see links below.
Detailed information on prices, routes and length of the trip can be found in the separate chapter Ferry to Rhodes.
