Ferries are one of the most popular means of transport to Rhodes, especially for travellers with their own car or tourists sailing from Turkey.

But of course you can also use the boats as a pedestrian traveller without a car.

You can take a ferry to Rhodes from Piraeus, Greece's largest port near Athens, from many of the surrounding islands and from Turkey.

Buy the cheapest ferry ticket

We recommend buying online, especially when travelling by car in the summer, when last-minute sales may be out of stock.

In the summer season, however, it is advisable to buy tickets online for ferries to the islands of Chalki (for this island you must buy directly from the carrier nissoshalki.com) or Symi. Tickets can be sold out even 3 days in advance.

Rhodes is mostly served by Dodekanisos Seaways, Blue Star Ferries, Anek, SeaDreams, Sebeco Lines, Saos Ferries, Hellenic Seaways.

Which routes are sailed?

The island of Rhodes is connected to the surrounding area by the following regular ferry lines.

Greek mainland

Large ferries sail 1-2 times a day on the backbone line to Piraeus, Greece's largest port on the outskirts of Athens.

Ferries depart from the easternmost part of the port in the largest town of Rhodes (see map).

Some sail direct, others stop at other islands, so sailing times vary from 12 hours to 18 hours.

Currently, only the Athens line is sailing.

To Turkey

From the main port of Rhodes, there are also scheduled departures to 3 cities on the Turkish Riviera.

Please note, you don't just need a European ID card for a trip to Turkey, you need a passport!

Marmaris

This well-known Turkish resort is served by Yesil Marmaris Lines and SeaDreams' regular twice daily service.

A return ticket for the same day is available at 50 eur, and a return ticket for a different day of return at 86 eur to 110 eur depending on the season.

Fethiye

The Turkish resort of Fethiye is connected to the island of Rhodes by the Makri Fery and Ido shipping companies, each twice daily. The cruise takes 1.5 hours.
