Siana

The picturesque mountain village of Siana (sometimes spelled Sianna) is the perfect place to stop for a few minutes during a road-trip around Rhodes.
It's right on the main road, so you don't have to go anywhere, and it's definitely worth at least a short visit.
Church of Saint Pantaleon
The dominant feature of Siana is the large 19th-century Byzantine church of Saint Pantaleon, which has absolutely stunningly decorated interiors.
Entrance to the church is free and it is open to the public daily from 9:00-18:00.
Honey and the forbidden Souma wine spirit
The entire west coast of Rhodes is famous for honey production and wine growing, and Siana is one of the main agricultural centres.
The small village has honey shops on every corner, as well as olive oil.
A local speciality is the special and very strong souma liqueur, an alternative to ouzo or raki, which comes from the Dodecanese islands.
In Siana, unlike other islands, it is made from grape marc and grapes and is so strong that at one time it was completely banned.
How to get there
You can only get to Siana by car on the main road. It lies about 6.5 km from the castle of Monolithos.
There are no regular bus services to Siana.
