Jacob's Canyon

Jacob's Canyon and the 5.5 km long hiking circuit through the beautiful and completely deserted nature of western Rhodes was a place that captivated me and I definitely recommend a stop here.
Through deep canyons and endless forests
The marked hiking trail is a circular route and is 5.5 km long in total. However, about a third of it is fairly unchallenging and follows the main road, so feel free to split the trail in two like I did.
First, I parked the car at the main part - a beautiful deep and narrow canyon with rock walls up to over 60 meters high!
The dry river canyon trail is definitely the nicest marked trail I've visited in Rhodes, but good fitness, stability and especially good hiking shoes are a must!
While it's not necessary to have direct mountaineering experience, you will be scaling some pretty big rocks and overall this section is physically demanding.
After passing through the canyon, I drove the car a short distance along the main road and then about 400 meters along an asphalt forest road designated for farmers but freely accessible to all cars.
I parked at roughly these points and set off along the marked hiking trail, first steeply up and then through a beautiful pine forest to breathtaking views.
The trail is marked by occasional red blazes and also by typical stone cairns marked by the hikers themselves.
How to get there
Jacob's Canyon is located right on the main road between the village of Kritinia or Emponas and the castle of Monolithos.
Regular bus lines have no stops anywhere nearby and the only way to get there is by car.
