Ladiko Bay

Just about 200 metres from the more famous Anthony Quinn Beach is Ladiko Bay with two beaches.
The name "Ladiko" is Greek for olive oil barrels, and the bay is so named because it was formerly used as a transshipment point for olive oil to cargo ships.
Two beaches, one bay, great swimming
At the western end of the bay is the main Ladiko beach, about 60 metres long but wider and more spacious than Anthony Quinn beach in the next bay.
However, virtually the entire beach is taken up by paid sunbeds and umbrellas (30 eur for a set of 2 sunbeds per day) and there is very little space unless you want to hire sunbeds.
On the other side of the bay is Plaka beach, accessed from a shared car park with Anthony Quinn beach.
Because Ladiko Bay is wider than Anthony Quinn Bay, there are better conditions for snorkeling because the boats don't disturb the underwater life as much.
There is a large restaurant at Ladiko Beach.
How to get there
The beach is accessible on foot, by car, by bus, and by boat!
By car
If you're travelling around Rhodes by car, you can drive right up to the beach on a fairly well-marked road.
Although the parking lot right by the beach is free, it's very small and it's usually full by around 9:00 am. After this hour, cars gradually park further and further along the main road, where free parking is also available.
By bus
There is a KTEL Rodou bus stop right above Ladiko Bay.
Tickets are always bought from the driver and in cash only.
For approximate departure times from Anthony Quinn Beach and Rhodes town centre, please visit the website: ktelrodou.gr/ladiko-antony-quinn.
Buses run 4 times a day on the Anthony Quinn - Faliraki - Rhodes Town route and a ticket to any destination costs 2,50 eur.
By boat
Although regular ferries do not run to Ladiko beach, a large number of cruises stop in the bay, departing from virtually all the resorts along the east coast.
Common prices for a cruise from Rhodes Town to Lindos, for example, with a stop at Ladiko Bay for a swim (about 20-30 minutes) range between 40 eur and 65 eur depending on length.
Usually you just need to come to the port and book your cruise on the spot.

On foot
From the resort of Faliraki, there is a very nice walk around to the beach via a hill with an observatory and a viewpoint.
Expect elevation changes and a rocky path, for which good shoes are definitely advisable.
However, the distance is short (3.5 km one way) and even untrained travellers can manage the path - route map.
