Domaine Saint Aubin

Domaine Saint Aubin is a former colonial mansion that has lost none of its former splendour.
The complex of several plantations and buildings is located in the south of Mauritius and is a very popular tourist destination. If you want to explore the whole complex, including the tours, set aside at least 2.5 hours.

Domaine Saint Aubin is still an active farm and factory, but much of it is open to the public.
Vanilla plantation
The local vanilla plantation is the largest tourist-accessible site of its kind, with regular tours in English and French.

A smaller and also very pretty vanilla plantation is located in the north of the island in the town of St. Julien d'Hotman.
Rhumerie
The rum distillery offers tours and tastings.

Botanical garden, turtles and deer
There are beautiful botanical gardens and a small selection of giant tortoises and tame deer and geese to wander freely amongst the buildings.

The whole area is dominated by a magnificent historic building, where you will find a luxury restaurant dedicated to local cuisine.

How to get there
Domaine Saint Aubin is located right on the main ring road around the island between Riviere des Anguilles and Souillac.
You can park for free inside the premises.
There are also several bus routes that run along the main road, with the nearest bus stop being about 400 metres from the entrance.
