Mauritius in a nutshell

Mauritius is a small island nation of 2,240 km2 located in the Indian Ocean near Reunion. By area, Mauritius is the 4th smallest country in Africa.
The originally uninhabited island, which today has a population of more than 1 200 000, has been successively occupied by the Portuguese, Dutch, French and English. Today, Mauritius is a sovereign state.
Tourists are attracted to the island's white-sand beaches and clear blue sea, as well as its beautiful mountains with easy hiking trails.
Mauritius is one of the most developed and safest African countries with a very good infrastructure and a large number of tourist activities such as cruises, theme parks, zoological or botanical gardens.
The ideal length of stay for exploring the island is, in our opinion, 7-10 days.
