Charaki (sometimes spelled Haraki) is a very small but terribly pleasant resort below the majestic Feraklos Castle and about 15 minutes drive from the famous town of Lindos.

The village has barely a couple of dozen permanent residents, but in summer it comes alive with a few tavernas, apartments opening up and lots of little shops selling beach gear and food.

The peaceful atmosphere attracts families with small children or couples who want to enjoy a completely relaxing holiday.

Beaches in quiet coves

Charaki's main beach follows the coastline of the bay of the same name, as well as the town's only central promenade.

The beach is pebbly and there are many small local tavernas, shops and also sunbed and umbrella hire shops along the beach (from 12 eur for a set of 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella per day).

The small Gaia Beach about 100 metres west of the town is free except for sunbed hire and is one of the quietest beaches in the wider area.

Thanks to the bay, the sea is almost always calm and the entry into the water is very gradual.

Less than 2 km from Charaki is one of the best rated natural beaches in Rhodes - Agathi.

The best accommodation in Charaki

Charaki is a town especially for travellers who are going around Rhodes on their own. Tour operators don't organize tours here yet.

There are no resorts or hotels here, but you can stay in many well rated local apartments.

We would recommend these just a few steps from the beach:

How to get there

There is a large free car park right by Gaia Beach just a few dozen metres from the centre of Haraki.

A bus runs to Haraki twice a day along the following routes:

  • Lindos - 2,80 eur
  • Rhodes Town - 4 eur (with stops in Faliraki and Archangelos)

The timetable can be found on the website ktelrodou.gr/haraki.
