Tsambika Beach (Tsampika)

Probably every island has its most beautiful beach. On Rhodes, the most beautiful beach is generally considered to be Tsambika (sometimes spelled Tsampika) in the more remote area between Archangelos and Kolymbia.
How did we like it and is it worth a visit?
Tsambika is situated in a wide valley between two hills, offering beautiful views of the coastline. On one of the hills, by the way, you will find the small Moni Tsambika monastery, which gave the beach its name.
Swimming and beach facilities
The over 3 km long, wide beach with fine sand attracts especially families with children and lovers of beautiful scenery with hilly surroundings.
The entrance to the sea is very gradual and for this reason the water is also warmer than in other parts of the island. The sea here is crystal clear and the edges of the beach are suitable for snorkelling.
On the beach you will find several expensive restaurants, cheaper bistros, a small grocery store, pedal boat rentals, a small children's water park and of course many sunbed and umbrella rentals.
However, the prices are higher than on other Rhodes beaches and for a set of 2 sunbeds and an umbrella you will pay around 20 eur per day.
However, you will find plenty of space to relax with your own equipment, the beach itself is free of charge like all beaches in Rhodes.
Is Tsambika really the most beautiful?
Looking from the Panagia Moni Monastery Tsambika certainly looks like one of the most idyllic beaches in Rhodes.
In reality, however, Tsambika tends to be very busy, and due to its width and length, the beautiful scenery doesn't stand out as much when you're standing right on the beach.
We think Tsambika is definitely worth a visit, but personally we liked the quieter Fourni beach on the other side of Rhodes better.
Beachfront accommodation
If you want to stay near Tsambika beach, choose accommodation in the nearby towns of Archangelos or Kolymbia.
Archangelos offers more budget guesthouse options, while Kolymbia has the full facilities of a beach resort.
The nearest beachfront accommodation is Villa Katherina on the main road overlooking the beach 1 km away.
Transport to Tsambika beach
Tsambika beach is located just outside Kolymbia towards the south, near the main road from Rhodes and Lindos.
By car
The turn-off from the main road is signposted and can be found about 2.5 km south of Kolymbia.
The large dusty car park right next to the beach is free of charge.
