Feraklos Castle

The ruins of the Johannite castle of Feraklos are a great place to stop during a road-trip around the island or for a hike from the nearby resort of Charaki (less than 1 km).
Of all the castles and monuments on Rhodes, we liked Feraklos perhaps the best, mainly because of its location right above the sea.

Ruins with beautiful views
The formerly monumental castle stands on an 85 metre high hill between the resort of Charaki and Agathi beach.
The fortress was originally built during the Byzantine era and was taken over by the Knights of Malta during the 14th century. Since the 16th century, when the Ottoman Empire took control of Rhodes, the castle has been in disrepair until today.
However, the ruins are quite well preserved and the former size and importance of the castle is clearly visible.
Entrance fees and opening hours
Feraklos Castle is open 24/7 and admission is free.
How to get there
The castle can be reached by a short, steep, rocky path from the tarmac road leading to Agathi beach or by an even steeper footpath from the village of Charaki.
Free parking is available on the side of the road.
