Corfu is a highly accessible destination, as the local airport is one of the largest Greek destinations for European low-cost airlines.

And thanks to its proximity to the mainland, the island is also easily accessible by ferries from Greece and Albania.

By air with a tour operator

Corfu has a firm place in the portfolios of perhaps every major European tour operator, with charter flights from all over Europe heading here during the holidays.

Corfu is one of the cheapest destinations among the Greek islands.

The cheapest tours range in price from 290 eur per week. We compare offers for you from the biggest tour operators in our tour search engine.

By air individually

In addition to charter flights, Corfu is also served by regular flights from many airlines from all over Europe.

The only year-round connections to the world are provided by Greek airlines Aegean Airlines and Sky Express, which fly to Athens Airport and offer connecting flights further afield in Europe.

During the summer season, the number of flights to Zakynthos increases tremendously and direct flights are offered by airlines such as:

Most routes only operate from June to the end of September, with some services (mainly Ryanair and Wizz Air) starting as early as the end of March and running until the end of October.

Domestic flights within Greece

If you'd like to combine a holiday in Corfu with a trip to another part of Greece, the only domestic airline service available is a combination with Athens. The cheapest tickets are offered mainly by Ryanair, which flies to Athens during the summer season. The average price of a one-way ticket is between 35 and 50 eur, with promotions even below 25 eur.

During the winter you can only purchase flights within Greece with Aegean Airlines and Sky Express.

Ferries

The island can also be reached by sea from neighbouring countries and islands.

Regular ferries operate to Albania, Italy and the Greek mainland and local shipping companies will take you to the surrounding Greek islands of Paxos, Ithaca, Kefalonia, the Othonian islands of Erikoussa and Mathraki.

In Corfu you will find only one major port with regular services, and that is right in the largest town of Corfu (also Kerkyra).

Detailed information on prices, routes and length of the cruise can be found in the separate chapter Ferry to Corfu.

By bus

Regular bus connections to the Greek mainland are provided by Green Buses.

Buses depart from the main bus station (see map), board at the port and then continue to their destination after an hour and a half cruise to Igoumenitsa port.

Please note that the ticket price listed on the greenbuses.gr website does not include the boat ticket!

Always buy your tickets online for routes to Greece, although they are the same price on the spot, often the buses are already full in advance.

Buses run on three routes to Athens, Thessaloniki and Larissa. However, they also stop at towns along the way, so you can get to virtually all of mainland Greece.

Examples of one-way ticket prices and journey times. To all prices you need to add 10 eur for the ferry fee:

  • Athens (Bus Station Kifisou): 44,50 eur, total journey time 7.5 hours
  • Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki): 34,30 eur, total journey time 5.5 hours
  • Patras (Patras): 27,20 eur, total travel time 4.5 hours
