Where to stay in Corfu

Corfu

How to choose the best hotel on Corfu and where would we recommend staying from our own experience? Read in this chapter.

Where to stay in Corfu

Corfu caters for all travellers. Some areas are busy late into the night, there is no shortage of nightclubs and discos, but there are also places where you can enjoy an undisturbed holiday. You'll find tranquillity in Corfu, you just need to know where to look for it.

If you're heading to Corfu on your own, you can choose from all kinds of accommodation on classic booking sites like booking.com.

Busy resorts

Kavos and Ipsos: The resorts of Kavos at the very southern tip of the island and Ipsos near the north of Corfu Town are the island's entertainment hubs.

The many bars and discos attract the younger generation in particular for exuberant parties late into the night, while during the day you can enjoy adrenaline-pumping water rides and sports.

Messonghi, Moraitika, Benitses: All three resorts are located in a strip on the east coast south of Corfu Town.

They offer nice access to the sea and sandy beaches with occasional small pebbles. Although they are quite busy places with bars and discos, you will find your peace and quiet here. In fact, there are many accommodation options in all the resorts, ranging from larger bustling hotels to small apartments away from the centre of the action. The biggest plus point of the resorts is the good and frequent bus connection with Kerkyra.

Sidari and surroundings.

The surrounding area of Sidari is famous for its beautiful white cliffs with pitorestic coves and underwater caves, while the neighbouring resorts of Astrakeri and Acharavi are typical spots for lovers of long straight beaches and abundant beach fun in the form of water attractions and sports.

Quiet resorts

Paleokastritsa: On the west coast, the town of Paleokastritsa stands out among all the resorts with its beautiful coves, deserted and lively beaches and perfect conditions for snorkelling and diving.

Not surprisingly, the area around Paleokastritsa is one of the most beautiful in Greece.

Kassiopi: The resort in the north of the island is where you'll soak up the true Greek atmosphere. The small harbour with its waterfront restaurants and romantic bay is not built up with large hotel resorts, but rather smaller guesthouses.

The nicer beaches are about 20 minutes from the town, but the town beach also offers very nice swimming conditions.

Agios Stefanos, Agios Georgios and Agios Gordios. Compared to the rest of Corfu, the sea here is open and you should expect bigger waves. The town of Agios Georgios has a beautiful beach with good access to the water and places where tourists can find complete privacy. Agios Gordios stands out above other places with its typically Greek appearance, picturesque houses and tavernas and a nice beach with unique rock formations.

Cities

Kerkyra: The capital and only large town of the island offers a wealth of entertainment of all kinds.

Art and history lovers will not be able to get enough of the beauty of the Old Town, while those of you who want to party late into the night will visit the numerous bars and restaurants. Kerkyra also makes a great base for exploring the island.

Corfu hotel prices

The cheapest apartments are around 33 eur per night in high season. A three-star hotel by the beach can be found for around 62 eur for a double room, but early booking is a big factor. If you book a beachfront hotel with breakfast about two months before departure, be prepared to pay between 55 eur and 73 eur per night for two.

Of course, the price goes up with proximity to the beach, and inland accommodation also works out a lot cheaper. The most expensive accommodation is in July and August.
