A beach with a village idyll

It contains one small, neat village, a beautiful sandy beach with shallow water coves ideal for amateur snorkelling and an idyllic landscape of sugar cane fields.

The public beach of Le Bouchon is located right in the village and is particularly popular with locals.

It's liveliest at weekends when locals head out for picnics and sell traditional local delicacies.

How to get there

The beach can be reached directly by car. The turn-off to the beach from the centre of Le Bouchon is marked by a small sign. In reality, however, there's no need to, as the street leading to the beach looks like a natural main road, from which you won't need to turn.

The turn-off to Le Bouchon from the main road is in the village of Trois Boutiques and is very well signposted.

Le Bouchon is even accessible by bus. Line 99 from Mahébourg via Plaine Magnien runs to the centre of the village (about once an hour).

Accommodation

In the village of Le Bouchon you will find several well rated private apartments.

Stay here if you want to experience the authentic Mauritian countryside and a beautiful quiet beach.
