La Cambuse Beach

La Cambuse, not very well known among tourists, has become my favourite beach.
The beach is located very close to the airport (about 3 km) and I visited it by accident, when I had unplanned enough time before my flight and was trying to figure out where to go.

The look and facilities of the beach
La Cambuse is covered in fine white sand and is very spacious - wide and measuring over 550 metres in length!
The entrance to the water is gradual and the waves are gentle, as there is a shallow area of crystal clear water about 200 metres offshore.
As the beach lies on the edge of the Blue Bay Marine Park, there are excellent conditions for amateur snorkelling.
Thanks to its gradual and comfortable entry into the water, La Cambuse is also great for small children.
Although there is a hotel resort next to the beach, the entire length of La Cambuse is open to the public free of charge.
There are many snack stands on the beach, especially with coconuts, ice cream, sweets and drinks.
There are also free public toilets.
Hotels by the beach
Right on the beach is the luxurious Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas *****.
How to get there
The beach can only be reached by car or overpriced taxi.
There is a huge free car park and a tarmac road leading up to it.
Just drive all the way along the airport grounds to the end and turn right at the last roundabout. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the beach from the airport.
