A large viewing platform has been built on the edge of the huge basin, offering incredible views of the idyllic hilly landscape and waterfalls over 70 metres high.

There are few viewpoints in Mauritius that I like more. Perhaps only the view from Le Morne Brabant or the views from Ebony Forest rival it.

The viewpoint is the start of the hiking trail to Mount Piton de la Petite Riviere Noire, the highest point in Mauritius.

The Black River Gorges viewpoint can only be reached by car. There is no public transport at all.

There is free parking along the road and you can shop at several souvenir stands between the parking lot and the viewpoint.
