The Greek Orthodox monastery of Panagia Tsambika or Moni Tsambika is a small white church on a 300-metre high hill above the resort of Kolymbia.

Sometimes you will also come across the name "Kyra Psili" in maps.

The current form of the church probably dates from the mid-18th century and is a popular tourist and pilgrimage site.

300 steps to a breathtaking viewpoint

A well-maintained footpath leads to the Moni Tsambika church from the car park, which is located by the former restaurant at a height of about 200 metres above sea level.

There is therefore an elevation gain of less than 100 metres over a distance of 500 metres, which you will climb with almost 300 steps. There are exactly 298 steps.

You will be rewarded with absolutely magical 360° views of the whole area.

The best views are early in the morning on Tsambika beach.

In the afternoon and evening, on the other hand, the views of the resort of Kolymbia are better.

Entrance fees and opening hours

The path to the church and the viewpoint is open 24/7 and the steps are even illuminated.

Entrance is free.

How to get there

The starting point at the bottom of the stairs can only be reached by car on a steep tarmac road. Parking on site is free.

Alternatively, there are very steep hiking trails from Tsambika beach and the resort of Kolymbia, but be prepared for some really brutal elevation changes and wear good hiking shoes.

The nearest bus stop "Tsampika Crossroads E33" is on the main road about 2,600 meters from the church (but the elevation gain is over 200 meters).
