The small mountain village of Eleousa is the ideal place to take a break from the busy seaside resorts. It is situated at the foot of Profitis Ilias Mountain, about 11 km west of the Seven Springs and 24 km from the Valley of the Butterflies.

Thanks to the abundance of coniferous trees and plane trees, Eleousa is very pleasant even on sultry summer days.

Why visit the village of Eleousa

A popular tourist attraction is the large circular fountain of Eleousa, originally created as a reservoir to hold water.

Today it serves purely aesthetic and touristic purposes.

The fountain is home to the unique Gizan fish, which are endemic only to Rhodes, as well as the ornamental koa carp.

In the centre of the village there is a women's monastery with the beautifully restored church of Agios Charalambos, which is unfortunately not open to the public.

How to get there

Eleousa is an ideal place to stop off during a road-trip if you're travelling around Rhodes by hire car.

It is located in the beautiful mountain coastline and can be well incorporated into an itinerary, for example, when travelling from Rhodes Airport towards the east coast.
