Ruins of the Church of Our Lady

Church Virgin Mary of the Burgh

On the eastern edge of the Old Town, visit the magical site of the ruins of the Church of Our Lady of Burgh.

The church stood next to the gate of Our Lady of Burghs, which connects the Old Town to the former main harbour (now a small ferry port).

The Gothic building dates back to the 14th century and was probably one of the first buildings built by the Knights of the Order of the Johanites, who ruled Rhodes at the time.

The church was destroyed during the bombing of World War II. Only the three apses remain, giving the place an incredible atmosphere.
