Rin Nai Beach

Rin Nai Beach

Rin Nai Beach is the quieter back beach of the Haad Rin area - while next door Haad Rin Nok is alive with the Full Moon Party, here you'll find a completely different vibe.

Fewer people, pretty sunsets and an interesting mix of tidy resort areas and rawer real estate.

Is Rin Nai Beach worth a visit?

Yes, if:

  • you want a quieter alternative to a party beach
  • you're interested in the contrast of "resort vs. reality"
  • you want a nice sunset

❌ More likely not, if:

  • you're looking for a party beach
  • you prefer more natural beaches

💡 Alternative:
For a quiet beach with a completely different atmosphere, go to Zen Beach.

Cocohut area (this is important)

The best part of Rin Nai is around Cocohut Beach Resort & Spa.

  • Cocohut Beach is the area around the Cocohut Beach Resort.
  • fine sand, minimal litter
  • sun loungers, restaurant
  • free entry for people outside the hotel "from the street"
  • free toilets and showers

This part is simply a modern beach with all the trimmings, and I really liked it here - in that respect it is the best beach on Koh Phangan in my opinion.

Cocohut restaurant offers basic food and drink. It's certainly not the best on the island and is quite expensive, but for comfort eating right on the beach, it's fully sufficient.

The rest of the beach (reality without filter)

Once you move away from the resorts:

  • the beach is more natural
  • litter in places
  • there is also a small slum/shanty area along the beach

The contrast is quite stark, but if you prefer a more raw reality, this part of the beach is perfect for you.

Wooden walkway and "lighthouse" (frequent question)

At the southern end of the beach, a wooden walkway leads towards a small rock with a "lighthouse".

👉 Reality:

  • Access is often closed
  • the area belongs to a private estate/resort
  • the top is not a classic lighthouse, but rather a private viewpoint/bar/restaurant area

👉 Therefore:

  • sometimes you pass through
  • sometimes it's closed (which is common)

💡 It's not a must-see, more of an accessory.

Swimming and conditions

  • the water is usually very calm
  • shallower in places
  • Swimming is good, but there is very little water at low tide

Sometimes there are large numbers of stinging (but not too poisonous) jellyfish.

When to come here

👉 The biggest advantage:

  • Sunsets

👉 Ideal:

  • Late afternoon
  • sunset + drink

Beachfront accommodation

If you want to stay in the south of the island in the party town of Haad Rin, but have a nice resort in a quieter part, Rin Nai Beach is the best location.

Here you will find two modern resorts:
