Banana beach

Banana beach

Banana Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Zakynthos and is ideal for a day of lounging by the sea and swimming.

Banana Beach lies in a rural area near the tiny resort of Vasilikos, a quiet village at the southern tip of Zakynthos just a short distance from the airport.

Swimming and beach facilities

Banana is one of the longest beaches on the island, stretching along the south-east coast for 2.5 km and covered in fine golden sand.

Although Banana Beach is organised, it is located in a really nice natural environment with gentle green hills and only small beach villas.

The entrance to the water is very gradual and safe, ideal for families with children.

The busiest part of the beach is its central beach with sun lounger rentals and quite a wide range of water sports. You will also find several restaurants and even disco clubs operating late into the night.

On the other hand, the outskirts, especially the western part, are very quiet and you will always find plenty of privacy.

Accommodation in Vasilikos

The village of Vasilikos is one of the quietest resorts in Zakynthos. It offers a few small shops with groceries and beach equipment, a few restaurants and plenty of apartments, villas and smaller hotels.

Prices in high season start as low as 55 eur per night for two, which is very reasonable for the Greek islands.

We would recommend, for example, a cheap Stamiris Beach Hotel ** right on the beach or the superbly rated Villa Levante apartments with stunning countryside views.

Of the better boutique resorts, we pick the Belvedere Gerakas Luxury Suites ****.

How to get to Banana Beach

The best way to get to the beach is by hire car, there's a signposted turn-off from the main road between Argassi and Vasilikos. You will find plenty of free parking spaces.

There is a bus from Argassi to Banana Beach 3 times a day, and a bus to Argassi 5-6 times a day from Zakynthos town, see timetables.
