Getting to Zakynthos

Zakynthos itself is not among the most expensive Mediterranean destinations in terms of accommodation or car rental prices, but the airfare prices are among the highest.
However, most travelers still head to Zakynthos with organized tours of travel agencies.
The only airport on this Greek island is Zakynthos ZTH. The main traffic here is mainly during the summer tourist season, roughly from April to October. During the winter, domestic flights fly here almost exclusively.
By air with a tour operator
Zakynthos has a firm place in the portfolios of almost all major European tour operators and charter flights from all over Europe head here during the holidays.
Due to the relatively high prices of individual tickets, including flights with low-cost airlines, it is often worth buying a complete package to Zakynthos from a travel agent.
By air individually
In addition to charter flights, Zakynthos is also served by regular flights from many airlines from all over Europe.
Only Greek airlines Aegean Airlines and Sky Express provide year-round connections to the world, flying to Athens Airport and offering connecting flights further afield in Europe.
During the summer season, the number of flights to Zakynthos increases tremendously and direct flights are offered by airlines such as:
- Ryanair - flights to Vienna, Bari, Bergamo, Budapest, London, Rome and more.
- Wizz Air - for example Budapest, Bucharest, Milan, Rome, Vienna, Warsaw, Timisoara and others
- Volotea - e.g. Bari, Venice, Naples, Nantes and more
- Condor - Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich
- Eurowings - Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Salzburg, Stuttgart
- Jet2 - large number of flights to most UK airports
- and many others such as Lufthansa, British Airways, easyJet, Transavia, Smartwings

Ferries
Zakynthos is accessible for travellers who don't want to fly.
There are regular boat connections to the Greek mainland and, in some seasons, to Italy. All boats depart from the capital of Zakynthos, where the port is located practically right in the centre of the town.
There is only one regular ferry service to Zakynthos:
- Zakynthos - Kyllini
- the nearest port on the Greek mainland (western part of the Peloponnese peninsula)
- one-way price with car from 52 eur / pedestrian-only fare from 16 eur
Irregularly in some seasons there are also direct boats to the Italian ports of Bari and Brindisi.
