Paxos and Antipaxos

To the south of Corfu are two smaller islands, Paxos and Antipaxos, which can be visited on your own or with local tour operators.
Head to the islands for beautiful natural scenery and, above all, much more tranquillity than Corfu.
Paxos
Larger Paxos has several hotels, beaches and pretty good connections to the island of Corfu. The island is a paradise of olive trees, as well as pretty pebble beaches and dramatic cliffs and caves.
You'll find beaches all around the perimeter of the island, they are always pebbly and natural, but the larger ones at least have sunbed and umbrella hire. The most beautiful things on Paxos, however, are certainly the cliffs that drop deep into the sea and create unforgettable scenery.
How to get to Paxos
Regular boat services are provided by two companies
- Kamelia Lines - ships sail 3 times a day in high season, only once in low season. The sailings leave from the port of Lefkimini in the southern part of the island. A round trip ticket is available at 30 eur. The journey takes about 45 minutes.
- Ilida Hydrofoil - a faster boat runs 1 to 2 times a day and the journey takes 45 minutes, departing from Corfu's largest town. The ticket goes out again at 20 eur.
If you don't want to spend the night on the island, it may be more convenient to pay for a trip with one of the many tour operators in Corfu. You will set sail early in the morning, stopping at both Paxos and Antipaxos, and return to Corfu in the evening. On average, a day trip costs around 40 eur and you'll come across excursion offers in every resort. There are also sailings from the ports of Lefkimini or Agios Georgios in the south of the island.
Getting around Paxos
There is a local bus service that runs across the island twice a day from Gaios town, but this is of little use for tourist purposes as it misses most of the beaches and clifftop viewpoints. The only option here is to rent a car from one of the local rental companies. Prices start at 50 eur per day.
Accommodation
There are many accommodation offers on Paxos, mainly in studios and apartments. However, expect much higher prices than in Corfu, starting at 92 eur per night.
Antipaxos
The smaller Antipaxos has only unpaved roads and the famous Voutoumi beach, known for its blue-green waters. For this reason, it is a frequent destination for cruise ships.
Antipaxos offers no accommodation options except private apartments, which cannot be booked online.
How to get to Antipaxos
Virtually the only relevant option for getting to Antipaxos is to pay for a day trip from Corfu with one of the many local tour operators. There's no need to book anything online, just walk around Corfu town centre or the resorts of Lefkimini or Agios Georgios (in the south of the island) and choose from the offers.
A day trip always includes a stop on Paxos. The price ranges between 30 and 35 eur.
