Chalikounas Beach, more commonly spelled Halikounas or even Xalikounas, is one of the longest natural beaches on the island of Corfu.

Over 4 km long and 70 meters wide, the strip of fine golden sand that separates the open sea from the semi-salty Lake Korission will captivate all enthusiasts of little organized and always free beaches with beautiful surroundings.

Water sports

On the beach you will find several small refreshment shops, some of which also rent sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as several rental shops and schools for kitesurfing, windsurfing or classic surfing.

How to get there

Halikounas Beach is located off the town of Chalikounas in the south-western tip of Corfu. Parking is free and unrestricted wherever there is space. It's not crowded even in the summer season, so parking won't be a problem. From Kerkyra to Chalikounas is about 30 km and about 50 minutes away.

There are no buses going directly to Chalikounas.

The nearest point is Agios Mattheos, 7 km away.
