Othoni (also spelled Othonoi) is one of the three Diapontine Islands and is located north of Corfu. It covers an area of about 2 km2and has a permanent population of about 150 people.

The islet is mainly known for its magnificent cliffs falling steeply into the sea and also for its sea caves.

According to one of the Greek legends, it is on the island of Othoni that the cave of the mythical nymph Calypso is located, who held Odysseus captive here for seven years. The cave can be found near Aspri Ammos beach.

However, the cave can only be reached by boat, offers can be found at the local port (around 10 to 15 eur), or you can take a day trip from Corfu with a visit to this cave.

How to get there and how to get around

Regular passenger ferries run 3-4 times a week from the port of Agios Stefanos in northwest Corfu (see exact location on map).

The ferries are operated by Aspiotis Lines, see detailed timetable. A one-way ticket costs 8,80 eur and can be bought at the dock.

The only way to get around the island is to rent a car (approx. 40 eur per day) or a motorbike (approx. 25 eur per day). There is only one local rental company on the island that does not have a website, you can only book by calling +30 697 591 3515.

Accommodation

You will only find private accommodation on the island. Booking portals like booking.com currently have no accommodation offers on Othonoi, but you can find a few offers with prices from 92 eur on Airbnb.com.
