Achillion

Probably the most popular excursion destination in Corfu is the three-storey Achilleion Castle, located just a few kilometres south of the capital.
It was built at the end of the 19th century by Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Sisi, and named after the popular mythical hero Achilles.
Several statues of him still stand in the interior and in the castle's parapet. Several scenes of the twelfth James Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only",were filmed in the outer rooms of the Achillion.
Entrance fees and opening hours
Achilleion Palace and the museum inside the building is open daily from 8:30am to 7pm, only until 2:30pm on weekends and holidays.
Tickets cost 7 eur and can be booked through the official website: achillion-corfu.gr.
Kaiser's Bridge
Back in the first half of the 20th century, Achillion was connected to the coast by a long staircase, a bridge and its own pier. Today, a busy road runs through this area, connecting the capital with the southern part of the island.
At the site known as Kaiser's Bridge, only the pier and the remains of the bridge can be admired.
How to get there
The castle lies on the main road from Kerkyra southwards. You can park for free along the road, but expect difficulty finding a free space.
A more convenient route is by bus, which stops at the coast near Kaiser's Bridge. From here, you can take the castle gardens directly to the palace. Bus lines B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, and B7 run from Corfu Town (Kerkyra).
