Secret Beach (properly Haad Son) is one of the nicest small beaches on Koh Phangan - fine sand, calm water and a very "instagrammable" look.

But there's a catch: it's small. And once you arrive late, reality changes quickly.

Is it worth visiting Secret Beach?

✅ Yes, if:

• you arrive early in the morning (ideally before 9:00 am)
• you want a smaller, nice and quiet beach
• you are looking for a short stop during the day

❌ Not likely if:

• you arrive later in the morning
• you want space and privacy
• you are planning a full day stay

💡 Alternative:
For a similar vibe but more space try Haad Yao.

Biggest negative: beach capacity

• it fills up very quickly

• until 9:00 → beautiful, quiet place
• after 9:00-10:00 → almost no chance of a good spot

What the beach is really like

When to go here (major decision)

This determines the experience:

• Ideal: morning (7:30-9:00 a.m.)
• ok: late afternoon
• bad: 10:00-15:00

👉 If you arrive late, you will probably be disappointed.

How to get there

• about 20 min from Thong Sala
• Easy access (3 minutes walk from the main road)
• parking - for scooters no problem right at the turn-off; for cars only along the main road
  • free parking in both cases

Then it's just a very short descent to the beach.

The most common mistakes

After 9-10am the beach is already full.

2️⃣ Expectation of space
It's a small beach - capacity is the limit.

3️⃣ Stay all day
Doesn't make much sense, better to combine with other places.

• afternoon another spot, for example the unique Zen Beach

Secret Beach works best as the first stop of the day.
