Sentosa
Sentosa is an artificial island in the south of Singapore that functions as an entertainment and resort hub. It's not a traditional neighbourhood, but rather a place to go specifically for attractions or the beach.
You will mainly find:
- Universal Studios Singapore (the biggest draw)
- beautifully landscaped sandy beaches with palm trees (Siloso, Palawan, Tanjong)
- S.E.A. Aquarium.
- Singapore Cable Car
- various attractions (zipline, skywalk, sightseeing, resorts)

How to get there
Sentosa isn't right in the centre of Singapore, but it's not far on the outskirts either.
It takes about 30 minutes to get there from Downtown.
- MRT to Harbourfront Station
- Yellow or Purple Line
- Sentosa Express (monorail)
- 4 sgd return ticket (payable by contactless card on the spot)
- Timetable and official website: sentosa.com.sg/sentosa-express
- or gondola
- 17 sgd return ticket (payable at the ticket office or online)
- walk across the bridge (short distance from the mainland - approx. 1.5 km to the nearest theme parks)
Where to stay
Sentosa is mainly resorts and more expensive hotels.
It only makes sense if you want to spend most of your time here and your main goal in Singapore is entertainment or beaches.
For me, the best hotel with top value for money and location right in the heart of Sentosa?
