Weather in Singapore and best time to go
Singapore has some of the most stable yet unpredictable weather we've ever experienced.
- 👉 Temperatures are almost the same all year round
- 👉 Rain and humidity make all the difference - it can start raining at any time and quite unexpectedly, several times a day
Is it worth dealing with the weather in Singapore?
✅ Yes, if:
- Singapore is your main destination
- you're only planning outdoor activities
❌ More likely no, if:
- you are taking Singapore as a stopover
- you don't mind the occasional rain (there are always plenty of places to shelter from the rain in the city)
Temperatures during the year
All year round, count on this:
- Day: 30-32 °C
- night: 25-27 °C
The difference by month of the year is minimal.
In my experience
The heat is constant, but the humidity makes the biggest difference.
- Sometimes it's fine
- other times you'll be sweating in 5 minutes
- It rains often - classic tropical rains (intense but short)
- the weather forecast often shows non-stop rain, but in reality it only rains a few minutes a day
Rain in Singapore: how it works
Before my first visit to Singapore, I was quite dismayed when I saw the weather forecast.
It was supposed to rain for a week straight. But the reality on the equator is very different.
Rain in Singapore:
- It comes suddenly
- It tends to be intense
- lasts for a short time (often 30-60 minutes)
- then the weather often returns to normal
Reality on the ground
It is very difficult to predict the weather, so most models indicate that it will rain all day.
The probability that it will rain at least sometime during the day is very high. Conversely, the chance of rain all day is very small.
The rainiest period
Singapore has one major rainy season when it rains statistically significantly more and more heavily.
November - January:
- More frequent and longer rains (sometimes for more than an hour or more per day).
- more cloudy
- higher humidity
- on average it rains at least once a day for 19 days a month
- there are around 130 to 150 hours of sunshine per month
But it is rarely a full day of rain.
Moreover, Singapore is very well prepared for rain, and you can always take shelter under a roof, in the subway or in a shopping mall if it suddenly rains.
February - October:
- Less rain
- More clear skies (but rarely clear, often clouds)
- on average it rains at least once a day for 10-15 days a month
- there are around 180-190 hours of sunshine per month

Humidity: the biggest enemy
This is a bigger factor than temperature.
- Humidity is often 80-90%
- feels significantly warmer
- you get tired quickly
My experience
The hardest part is not the heat, it's not cooling down.
That's why it makes sense:
- taking breaks
- going into the air conditioning
- plan for a slower pace
How to adapt to the weather
This is essential for a realistic experience:
1️⃣ Plan flexibly
Don't work out your exact schedule for hours - rain will change it anyway.
2️⃣ Combine outdoor and indoor activities
Following our list of places to see, always have an indoor activity in reserve in case of rain.
3️⃣ Make the most of the evenings
The best part of the day with the most stable weather and pleasant temperatures.

When to go to Singapore
Short answer: practically any time.
Singapore doesn't have a classic high season like Thailand or Indonesia. You can fly here in January or August and the experience will be very similar.
Plus, for a very small percentage of travelers, Singapore is a destination, but rather just a stopover along the way.
So I would plan your trip according to the season in your main destination.
