You can smell this beach from metres away. In fact, Xigia is a natural healing bathing place because of the sulphur springs found here. Apart from this attraction, it is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island thanks to its beautiful natural surroundings.

However, overcrowding must be taken into account, as Xigia is very small and also well-known and therefore popular for half-day trips from the resorts.

Swimming and sulphur springs

The sulphur springs here spring up by the shores and, due to their instantaneous mixing with the sea, are not boiling or otherwise dangerous. On the contrary, you will experience a pleasant bath with massage effects. The springs and beaches are free to use and there is no charge.

You have to descend about 100 steps to the beach from the road, where there are two small taverns. The beach itself is without facilities and covered with pebbles mixed with coarser white sand.

How to get there

There is no public transport to Xigia beach. You can get here with an organised optional excursion through your tour operator, or rent a car and stop here while wandering the eastern coast of Zakynthos.

Xigia is located 25 km from the airport, or 16 km from Navagio Beach.
