Blue Caves

Blue Caves

Probably the most unique natural phenomenon of Zante can be found in its north. The Blue Caves are actually white, the sea is blue, and it is the limestone rocks and the sun's rays that make them glow a beautiful colour. The best conditions are in the early morning and mid-morning when the light refracts so that the water turns a bright turquoise, glistening and shimmering.

The Blue Caves are the perfect place for a day trip along with Navagio beach.

At the northernmost point of Zakynthos, right on Cape Skinari, you can visit one of the caves on foot.

How to get to the caves?

The caves are accessible by boat, ideally from the port of Agios Nikolaos, where most boats depart from.

There are many companies operating organized cruises in Agios Nikolaos, just come to the port and choose from the many offers.

You'll sail your boat through the caves and you can usually take a short 15 minute stop for a swim.

Most cruises are combined with a trip to Navagio beach and take about 3 hours. Prices are around 30 eur and sail about once every 30 minutes, cruises are offered by companies such as Theodosis Cruises or Actipis Cruises.
