Resort Glyfada

The resort of Glyfada (also spelled Glifada) is located in a picturesque part of the western coast of Corfu with steep wooded cliffs into which sandy beaches occasionally slip.
Glyfada is one of the very small quiet resorts with a few apartments and guesthouses, one small grocery store, a few tavernas and sunbed and umbrella rentals.
In Glyfada there is a place for all those who are looking for peace and quiet of the sea and are not too fond of water attractions or nightlife.
Beaches
There are two beaches.
The larger Glyfada beach (Paralia Glyfada) is right in the town and has all the facilities you need. The beach is covered with sand and measures about half a kilometre.
Behind the rocky cliff, over which a concrete road leads from Glyfada, you will find the romantic and picturesque Mirtiotissa beach (sometimes written as Myrtiotissa) after about 300 metres.
The relatively short (about 150 m) strip of fine sand is nestled between steep wooded cliffs and hills, providing complete privacy from the outside world. Here too you'll find sunbed and umbrella hire, but for food you'll have to climb back over the cliff to Glyfada.
If you walk along the beautiful path along the jagged coastline about half a kilometre further on from Glyfada, you will come across the hidden little monastery of Mirtiotissa, which is freely accessible.
How to get there
Glyfada is easily reached within 25 minutes by car from Kerkyra. There's free parking on site and you can even drive almost all the way to Mirtiotissa beach, although you'll have to walk the last 150 metres or so of the very steep road.
Even non-drivers need not despair. The B17 bus line from Kerkyra runs here 2-3 times a day, every day (including weekends).
Hotels Glyfada
Glyfada offers smaller and cosy guesthouses and hotels with prices ranging from 44 eur for a double room per night to 165 eur for larger apartments for 4 to 6 people.
Almost all accommodations are located within 350 meters from the beach. Because of the steep hills, you can't go any further.
We would recommend these well rated apartments right on the beach:
