Lamai Night Market

Lamai Night Market

Lamai Night Market is a smaller and more relaxed night market in the southeast of Koh Samui.

It's not as well-known as the markets in Chaweng or Fisherman's Village, but that's what makes it feel so much more welcoming.

Worth a visit?

I went here more by chance to discover as many night markets as possible. For me, Lamai Night Market is a good place to stop after a day at Lamai Beach.

But in my opinion, there's not much point in going to Lamai Night Market from the other side of Koh Samui.

Better alternatives from my point of view?

What to eat here (and why go here in the evening)

The food is the main reason to visit.

Here you will find:

  • 🍜 pad thai, fried rice, curry
  • 🍢 grilled meat and seafood
  • 🥭 mango sticky rice and desserts
  • 🍹 fresh juice and cocktails

Prices are mostly lower than the restaurants around the main street in Lamai.

👉 Perfect scenario for me:

  • Have a drink by the sea
  • take a walk on the beach
  • to sort out dinner here

I just had a quick evening snack here in the form of banana roti with condensed milk.

How to realistically get there (and what to expect)

This is exactly the kind of place where you don't plan ahead.

If you live in Lamai, you can just walk here - most resorts are no more than a 15-minute walk away.

If you live elsewhere on the island

🚕 Grab / Bolt:

  • works without problems, prices are highest between 5pm and 9pm
  • from Chaweng Beach about 25 minutes

🛵 Scooter:

  • the easiest option
  • there is plenty of parking around the market and you will have no problem finding a space

🚗 Car:

  • can be parked on the roadside
  • there are more cars in the evening, but we always found something, for example at Tops Daily or 7-Eleven
