Coral Cove Beach
Coral Cove Beach is a small rocky cove on the east coast of Koh Samui, roughly halfway between Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach.
Unlike these big beaches, it has a much more intimate feel - a few dozen metres of sand, large granite boulders and relatively clear water.
It's because of the photogenic rocks that make it look like you're in the Seychelles that Coral Cove Beach is gaining the attention of travelers.

Small beach, totally different vibe than Chaweng
Coral Cove is more of a short stop than a place to stay all day.
- Smaller space
- the distinctive rocks
- fewer people than the main beaches
Large boulders create natural "coves" and make the beach one of the most visually interesting places on the island.
I liked Coral Cove Beach, but honestly it was more of a photo stop. Or for living in the adjacent resort.
There is only one restaurant behind the beach, and in good weather the beach tends to be very crowded.
Swimming and snorkeling
This is where Coral Cove differs from most of Samui:
- 🌊 the water tends to be clearer than in Chaweng
- 🤿 suitable for snorkelling around rocks
- 🪨 the entrance to the water is rocky in places
- The sand is coarse and light
Other beaches are more comfortable for the classic "lounging by the sea", but for a short swim or snorkeling this is one of the better places.
How to get here (and why you should do it in advance)
Coral Cove is right off the main road, but it's easy to miss. Moreover, access to the beach is only in the direction Chaweng -> Lamai and not the other way around.
The road is a four-lane road, and from the direction Lamai -> Chaweng you definitely cannot safely turn to the beach or stop anywhere near it.
🚗 Car / 🛵 Scooter
- small parking lot right by the beach (free) - but there is space for max. 5 cars (scooters unlimited)
- the turn off the main highway is not marked, it is located in a valley between the hills
🚕 Grab / Bolt
- no problem dropping you off, but again only in the direction of Chaweng -> Lamai
- Return depends on availability at the time and waiting times are sometimes longer than 20 minutes
Where to stay nearby
Coral Cove Beach has two very quiet resorts with breathtaking views of the sea and especially the sunrises.
If you want to have the beach to yourself in the morning and don't mind that restaurants or shops are only about 1 km away on the busy highway, check the prices at these resorts:
