Just a few steps from the National Museum of Anthropology you will find one of the most pleasant places to relax in all of Chapultepec.

The Porrúa Library combines a bookshop, café and terrace overlooking Lago Mayor.

It is not a classic tourist attraction. Rather, it's a place to grab a coffee, slow down for a while and escape the hustle and bustle of Mexico City.

Many visitors head here mainly for the view of the lake, which is one of the best in the first part of Chapultepec Park. The area also includes a café with an outdoor terrace directly over the water.

If you're visiting Chapultepec Castle or the National Museum of Anthropology, this is the perfect place for a short break.

There are no guided tours or exhibitions. The main reason to visit is the atmosphere, the combination of books, greenery and lake views, which you will hardly find in other parts of Mexico City.

Opening hours

The library and café are usually open Tuesday to Sunday between 9:00 and 18:00. It is closed on Mondays.
