Isla Mujeres in a nutshell

Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is a small Caribbean island situated just 13 km from Cancún.

It is particularly famous for Playa Norte, with its white sand and calm turquoise waters, but also for snorkelling, Punta Sur and the luxury resorts on the quieter southern coast.

We travelled here by public ferry from Cancún, went on a trip to Isla Contoy and spent two nights at the Impression Isla Mujeres resort on the southern coast. The difference between the bustling centre around the harbour and the quiet resort area in the south is crucial when choosing accommodation.

For Playa Norte, the town centre and the trip to Punta Sur, one day is enough – with a morning trip from Cancún and a return in the evening.

If you want to enjoy the beaches without the biggest crowds of day-trippers or combine your stay with a high-quality resort, we recommend staying for 2 to 3 nights.
