Riviera Maya in a nutshell

Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya is one of the most popular beach destinations in Mexico. In fact, it’s one of the most popular in the whole of North America.

Stretching over more than 120 kilometres of Caribbean coastline between Cancún and Tulum, you’ll find some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, famous Mayan ruins, dozens of cenotes and unique nature reserves.

In this guide, we’ve also included places such as Bacalar, which, although no longer officially part of the Riviera Maya, are a natural destination for tourists heading to this region.

Whether you’re planning a holiday in Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos or one of the major resorts, the Riviera Maya is the starting point for most of the most interesting excursions on the Yucatán Peninsula.
