If you’re expecting the tropical heat typical of the beaches in Cancún or Tulum, Mexico City is likely to surprise you.
The city lies at an altitude of over 2,200 metres, which means it enjoys pleasant temperatures all year round. Daytime temperatures are usually between 20 and 28 °C, but mornings and evenings can be surprisingly cool.
The most important factor isn’t the temperature, but the rainy season.

When is the best time for the weather?
I consider November to May to be the best time to visit.
The days are usually sunny, with minimal rainfall and temperatures ranging from 22 to 27 °C. Unlike most of Mexico, there is generally no extreme heat or high humidity here.
The rainy season is not a problem
The rainy season runs from June to September.
But that doesn’t mean it rains all day. Short but intense showers or thunderstorms are typical during the afternoon and evening.
Mornings are often sunny and perfectly suitable for exploring the city.
That is precisely why many travellers have no qualms about visiting in the summer.
What clothes should you pack?
The biggest mistake is underestimating the morning and evening temperatures.
Even during the warmer months, it can cool down significantly after sunset. A light jumper or jacket came in handy every day.
If you’re travelling between June and September, pack a small umbrella or a light waterproof jacket as well.
