Hong Kong Park is a pleasant place to relax amongst the skyscrapers in the Central and Admiralty districts.

The main attraction is the large bird aviary, which is free to enter. Allow about 30 minutes for a short visit.

We were drawn to the park by a tip my girlfriend spotted on Instagram. We’d only intended to stop here on our way to the Peak Tram, but in the end, the park pleasantly surprised me. If you’re in the area, do pop in even if you haven’t made any other plans.

What can you see in Hong Kong Park?

My favourite part was the Edward Youde Aviary. An elevated walkway winds its way through the treetops, allowing you to observe the birds up close.

There are several hundred birds living there, and entry is free.

The park is lovely even outside the aviary: a pond, a waterfall, fountains, plenty of greenery and benches.

It’s a really pleasant change from the bustling city centre. You’ll also find clean, free public toilets here.

If you have more time, you can also visit the Forsgate Conservatory. There’s also a children’s playground in the park.

Admission and opening hours

  • Park: free, 6.00 am–11.00 pm
  • Aviary: free, 9.00–17.00
  • Greenhouse: free, 9.00 am–5.00 pm

For the latest information on opening times, please visit the official Hong Kong Park website.

How do I get to Hong Kong Park?

The easiest way is to take the MTR to Admiralty station and exit via Exit C1. You can also walk to the park from Central station via Exit J2.

Hong Kong Park is a short walk from the lower station of the Peak Tram. You can therefore combine your visit with a trip to Victoria Peak.

You can find information on suitable neighbourhoods and hotels in the Hong Kong accommodation guide.
