Tsim Sha Tsui

Tsim Sha Tsui

The Tsim Sha Tsui district is located in the south of Kowloon and is one of the two main centres of Hong Kong.

The waterfront, along with the neighbouring Avenue of Stars, is the best place to view the Hong Kong skyline and the nightly light show over the skyscrapers.

Luxury shopping malls and hotels surround the docks.

Locals commonly use the acronym"TST" for the district.

Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront

The promenade between the docks and the Avenue of Stars is one of the most popular places in Hong Kong. An elevated walkway is built above the various cruise stations, offering breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour.

The waterfront on the "TST" is also one of the best places to watch the Symphony of Lights. For the best views, we strongly recommend arriving at least 60-75 minutes before the light show starts, between 6:45pm and 7:00pm.

Detailed information about the Hong Kong Light Show is described in the Activities section.

Clock Tower

The Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade is dominated by one of the few surviving relics of the British colonial era.

The clock tower stands near the wharf and is the only remnant of the former Kowloon Railway Station. The tower was built in 1913 and reaches a height of 44 metres.

Access to the tower is not possible, but the views are made up for by the nearby promenade.

Museums in Tsim Sha Tsui

Right on the promenade, you can take shelter from the hot or rainy weather in two large museums.

  • Hong Kong Museum of Art (hk.art.museum) - HKMoA for short contains more than 17,000 objects of modern art.
  • Hong Kong Space Museum (hk.space.museum) - The popular space museum has many interactive exhibitions.

Harbour City Shopping Centre

Stretching for nearly 1 km from the city ferry landing to the fast boat ports to mainland China is the huge building of Hong Kong's largest shopping mall.

Harbour City hosts hundreds of shops from luxury clothing brands from around the world. You can also buy sporting goods, jewellery, luggage and dine in many restaurants.

Detailed information and a list of shops can be found on the centre's website: harbourcity.com.hk.

Accommodation in Tsim Sha Tsui

The South Kowloon location is extremely popular for accommodation due to the great views and excellent transport links to the whole city.

The popularity of the location is matched by the high hotel prices. Prices for the cheapest hotels start at 270 usd per night.
