Where to book a hotel in Hong Kong
The city is one of Asia's most expensive metropolises, and even on a global scale, Hong Kong is a very expensive destination.

Conversely, the larger international and luxury hotels tend to be more convenient to book through booking.com.
In general, however, even for smaller hotels, it cannot be said that Agoda is always more convenient. It is always worth comparing the two main portals.
Best neighbourhoods in Hong Kong and hotel tips
The huge city has very good metro, bus and ferry coverage, so there are options for cheaper accommodation outside the centre.
Moreover, Hong Kong has no dangerous and certainly no slums. In this respect, you don't have to worry about staying anywhere.

Kowloon
Hong Kong's most populous district lies on the southern tip of the mainland at Victoria Harbour, and offers the best views of the downtown skyline on the opposite Hong Kong Island.
Kowloon is a lively district with the most upmarket malls, but also local markets and cheap eateries.
Kowloon's biggest advantage is its great accessibility to the city centre, as well as the airport, China and the northern districts.
The main thoroughfare popular for accommodation is Nathan Road, where you'll find plenty of cheap hostels and local hotels.

Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, North Point
These three districts form a unified area of the north coast of Hong Kong Island, where the city's main centre lies.
Here you'll find a large number of international hotels, but also many cheaper and still high-quality local brands. Central Hong Kong has all the services, shopping malls, cheap eateries and great transport links.
Due to its central location, hotels in this area are among the most expensive in Hong Kong.

- ibis Hong Kong North Point *** - Perfect location right by North Point Pier and 20 metres from the metro station of the same name. Prices start from 70 usd.
Hotels overlooking Victoria Harbour
- Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour **** - Great location at North Point Pier and unobstructed views of opposite Hung Hom and Kai Tak, prices from 175 usd.
- Harbour Grand Hong Kong ***** - Quality hotel near East Coast Park with views of both Kowloon and central Hong Kong Island, prices from 160 usd.
- Four Seasons Hong Kong ***** - One of the best hotels on Hong Kong Island located directly opposite the main Central Piers.
Hotels by the beach
If you want to explore Hong Kong but have a hotel by the beach and enjoy swimming in the calm waters of the South China Sea in the evening, the city offers those options too.
However, you'll always have to allow for a longer commute to the city centre, either by ferry or bus.
- Warwick Hotel Cheung Chau *** - The hotel is right on the beach on Cheung Chau Island, where ferries run every 40 minutes to Central Piers (25 minutes).
- Seaview Holiday Resort *** - A beachfront hotel in Mui Wo, with ferries to Central Piers every 30 minutes (25-minute cruise).
Tung Chung (near the airport)
The Tung Chung district is ideal for day trips if you're changing planes in Hong Kong, but have plenty of time to explore at least part of the city.
A 10-minute bus or taxi ride from the airport, Tung Chung is the terminus of the subway line to the city centre, as well as the cable car to the Big Buddha statue in the middle of Lantau Island.
In this district you will find mainly larger hotels with similar prices from 150 usd.
Hotel prices in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is one of the most expensive metropolises.
You can stay in nice 4* hotels near metro stations from 120 usd, while the cheapest 5* hotels start at around 180 usd per night.
The cheapest accommodation can be found in hostels and guesthouses with extremely small rooms, especially in Kowloon, where you can pay from 40 usd per night.
The cheapest accommodation in Hong Kong is in the low season, from May to October, while the most expensive is from December to March. However, as Hong Kong is not typically a holiday destination, the price differences are not as staggering as in Thai resorts or Bali.
