Harbour Station
Two decommissioned Hong Kong MTR carriages stand on a small jetty on the Wan Chai waterfront.
Harbour Station looks like a miniature railway station by Victoria Harbour, but no trains run from here.
We stopped here briefly whilst walking from Causeway Bay to our hotel, the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View.
Personally, I wasn’t particularly impressed by the place and wouldn’t go out of my way to visit it. However, if you’re passing by, feel free to pop in for a few minutes.
What can you see at Harbour Station?
Two carriages come from Hong Kong’s East Rail Line. Today, they stand on a jetty with a platform overlooking the harbour. You can walk past them, take a photo and then carry on along the waterfront.
Inside, there’s a small café and ice-cream parlour.
Allow about 10 minutes for Harbour Station itself. Entry to the pier is free. You can combine your walk with a visit to the nearby Golden Bauhinia Square.
You can also take a look inside the carriages, where there are leaflets detailing the history of the Hong Kong MTR.
It is open every day from 10.00 to 22.00
How do you get to Harbour Station?
The pier is situated on the promenade in the northern part of Wan Chai, between Wan Chai Ferry Pier and Causeway Bay.
- By MTR: Exhibition Centre station, Exit A2; about a 5-minute walk.
- On foot from Causeway Bay: from the MTR station, Exit C, about 9 minutes.
- By ferry: about 5 minutes from Wan Chai Ferry Pier.
