People visit the Avenue of Stars to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Hong Kong.

From the 400-metre-long waterfront promenade in the Tsim Sha Tsui district, you can see the skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island across Victoria Harbour. Along the way, you’ll also come across statues and handprints of Hong Kong film stars.

Entry is free and the promenade is open 24 hours a day. Allow about 20–30 minutes for the walk itself. You can combine it with a Star Ferry crossing, the waterfront museums or the evening light show.

Why is the Avenue of Stars worth a visit?

The southern coast of Kowloon, where the Avenue of Stars is located, offers the best views of central Hong Kong, with its skyscrapers and Victoria Peak.

The promenade was inspired by Hollywood Walk of Fame and pays tribute to prominent figures from Hong Kong’s theatre and film scenes.

The Avenue of Stars is also one of the most popular spots from which to watch the ‘Symphony of Lights’ night-time light show, which we cover in detail in the Activities section.

Opening hours and the best time to visit

The Avenue of Stars is a standard public space, so you can stroll along the promenade 24/7.

Entry to the Avenue of Stars is free.

If you want to watch the light show from the Avenue of Stars, make sure you get there before 7.00 pm. The show starts at 8.00 pm, but the promenade tends to be completely packed about an hour before it begins.

During the day, you can visit the promenade at any time. The lighting conditions for photos of the Hong Kong skyline are good all day long.

How do you get to the Avenue of Stars?

The promenade is easily accessible by underground, bus and ferry.

The nearest underground stations:

• East Tsim Sha Tsui, approx. 150 metres – Tuen Ma Line (towards West Kowloon, Kai Tak, Hung Hom, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan)
• Tsim Sha Tsui, approx. 300 metres – Tsuen Wan Line (towards Central, Admiralty, Mong Kok, Prince Edward, Tsuen Wan)

Nearest ferry terminal:

• Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier approx. 450 metres – Star Ferry towards Hong Kong Central

Where to stay near the Avenue of Stars?

A hotel on the promenade is particularly worthwhile if you want to walk along the waterfront in the evening or enjoy a view of Victoria Harbour directly from your room. Not all rooms in a waterfront hotel have a view: check the specific room category when booking.

• Regent Hong Kong – situated right next to the Avenue of Stars. A good choice if a waterfront location is your main reason for staying.
• K11 ARTUS – an apartment hotel above K11 MUSEA, just a few steps from the promenade. Ideal if you want more space and a view from a suitable room category.
• Rosewood Hong Kong – a luxury hotel in the Victoria Dockside complex on the eastern side of the promenade. Choose this if the hotel itself is an important part of your trip.
