Nuuk Airport in a nutshell

Myggedalen viewpoint

The airport in Greenland's capital Nuuk is the main international gateway to the country and the largest base for the national carrier Air Greenland from 2024.

Until 2024, the airport only served small regional aircraft, but after more than doubling the runway length and building a new terminal, it is now able to accommodate large Airbus A330 aircraft.

Prior to this, Kangerlussuaq SFJ served as the main base for international flights.

From Nuuk, Air Greenland flies to virtually all Greenlandic airports, plus several international routes:

  • Air Greenland - Copenhagen, Keflavík (year-round), Aalborg, Billund, Iqaluit (summer seasonal flights)
  • Icelandair - Keflavik (year-round)
  • SAS - Copenhagen (summer seasonal flights)
  • United - New York (summer seasonal flights)
