Nuuk Airport has one modern small and uncluttered terminal, but very poorly equipped with services.

Check-in and security lines are very efficient and short, and you will be fine if you arrive at the airport 45 minutes before your flight. It will take 5-10 minutes to walk from the terminal entrance to the departure gate even with security.

Transfer between flights

Nuuk is a small airport and therefore transfers are very easy.

International flight (including flights from Denmark) -> Domestic flight within Greenland

If you are transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight (e.g. heading to Ilulissat), you will first go through immigration (find out the conditions for entering Greenland), then you have to collect your luggage, go out to the public area and check in again.

You will then go through security to the departure gate area.

The total transfer time averages between 20 and 40 minutes.

Domestic -> International

When transferring from a domestic to an international flight, you usually do not have to collect your baggage, but you must exit the transit area, go out into the public area and go through security back to the departure gates.

This is because at other Greenlandic airports there is never any security check before departure and you always need to go through at least one security check before an international flight.
