Kangerlussuaq Airport in a nutshell

Arctic Circle Trail

By 2024, Greenland' s largest international airport will be located in the small village of Kangerlussuaq in the southwest corner of the island. In 2024, Nuuk GOH airport in Greenland's capital city underwent a major expansion, with most international routes and Air Greenland's main base moving there.

The airport is also one of the most important supply points for the entire island and an important military base for both US and Danish military forces.

Kangerlussuaq is located in an inland area with some of the most stable weather in Greenland, which was the main reason for building this air base.

For tourists, it can serve as a great launching point for the Arctic Circle Trail, which starts just a few kilometres from the terminal.
