Bangrak Beach
Bangrak Beach is located in the north of Koh Samui between Bophut Beach and Big Buddha Temple. It's not the most famous beach on the island, but it has one big advantage - a great location.
If you want to be close to the airport, marinas and main tourist areas, Bangrak works as a handy base for exploring the northern part of Samui.

What is Bangrak Beach really like?
Bangrak is not your typical "postcard" beach. The sand is coarser than at Chaweng Beach and the water tends to be less clear.
However, the beach is long, relatively quiet and has a nice view of Koh Phangan.
The proximity of the ports also plays a big role here - from Bangrak, for example, boats sail to Koh Phangan.
What to expect on the beach
Bangrak is more of a functional beach area than a typical holiday destination.
Here you will find:
- π½ smaller restaurants and beach bars
- π¨ smaller hotels and apartments
- π€ marinas for boats to nearby islands
- π΄ relatively quiet atmosphere
It's not a place with a lot of water sports or beach clubs like Chaweng or Bophut.
For whom Bangrak is a good choice
Bangrak makes sense especially if:
- you want to be close to Koh Samui Airport
- you are taking a boat to Koh Phangan and have some time
- you are looking for a quieter area than Chaweng
- you want good accessibility between the northern beaches
If you are looking for a beautiful swimming beach, Choeng Mon Beach or Chaweng Beach would be better choices.
Transport and accessibility
Bangrak has one of the best locations on the island.
- π Car: parking in Bangrak is not very good but, you can park anywhere along the street
- π΅ Scooter: practical solution, the shoulders along the main road are very wide, so you don't have to look for a parking space for a long time
- π Grab / Bolt: they work without problems
Distances from Bangrak are as follows:
- Koh Samui Airport: about 10 minutes
- Chaweng Beach: approx. 15 minutes
- Fisherman's Village: approx. 10 minutes
Accommodation at Bangrak Beach
Bangrak offers mainly smaller resorts, apartments and villas. You will hardly find large luxury resorts here.
The advantage is usually a lower price than on Chaweng and at the same time good access to the main places of the island.

Is Bangrak Beach worth it?
Bangrak is not a beach that people fly halfway around the world to visit.
But if you want a convenient base in northern Samui, close to the airport and major excursions, it can work very well.
But for swimming or a typical tropical beach, most travelers tend to head to Chaweng, Choeng Mon or Bophut.
