The Kiblat Walk, a pedestrian area leading from the Iron Mosque, opens onto the square.

The square has two main landmarks:

• the gilded dome palace, which houses the Federal Court of Justice of Malaysia

Between the lake and Putrajaya Square is a huge complex of architecturally very interesting modern buildings, which houses the Islam Complex, the largest religious organisation in Malaysia.
