Getting to Putrajaya

Putrajaya is easily accessible from downtown Kuala Lumpur for a few ringgit on the Metro Yellow Line or the KLIA Transit Airport Train, which continues on to KLIA Main Airport.
In addition, long-distance buses also run to Putrajaya from several cities in Malaysia without the need to change buses in Kuala Lumpur.

Metro and train from Kuala Lumpur
The metro and train station is called Putrajaya Sentral or also Putrajaya & Cyberjaya and is located in the residential area of the city about 3 km east of the central area.
We describe our experience of getting from Putrajaya Sentral to the city in the Transport chapter.
KLIA Transit train
The quickest transport to the KL Sentral main railway station area is by KLIA Transit train.
KLIA express trains do not stop at Putrajaya Sentral station.
KLIA Transit runs between Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur with 1 stop "Bandar Tasik Selatan" at the main long distance bus station for Kuala Lumpur.

Metro Yellow Line
The modern part of Kuala Lumpur in the KLCC and Petronas Twin Towers area can be reached by the MRT Yellow Line "Putrajaya Line" without changing trains.
While the metro has significantly more stops than the KLIA Transit trains, if you're heading to the modern downtown area, the metro is the fastest and most direct option.

Grab
We don't really recommend travelling by Grab (or taxi) to Kuala Lumpur due to the frequent traffic jams.
The journey can stretch to an hour and a half and the average price is around 70 myr.

Luggage storage at the station
If you want to make a stopover in Putrajaya on your way from the airport to Kuala Lumpur or vice versa, the automatic luggage lockers located right inside the Putrajaya Sentral station building between the KLIA Transit train platform and the long-distance bus station will definitely come in handy.
Depending on the size of the locker, prices for 6 hours of storage range from 15 myr to 50 myr and payment can only be made with a contactless Visa or MasterCard.
Long-distance buses
The Putrajaya Sentral station complex also contains a long-distance bus station running directly to many Malaysian cities.
Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office in the station (card and cash payments are possible), but to ensure availability, we recommend that you buy online at least 1 day before departure.
There are several bus booking websites in Malaysia that work without any problems.
- 12go.asia (we use this site most often, it works in many countries in Southeast Asia for buses, boats and trains)
- easybook.com
- redbus.com
Direct buses from Putrajaya run to cities such as Penang, Kuantan, Johor Bahru and Kajang.
