Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang is the most famous neighbourhood to go for street food in the evening, but also to have fun. Nightclubs, shopping malls, restaurants and street vendors. Bukit Bintang has it all.
Although Bukit Bintang is best known for its street food, there are definitely better places to go for local food in Kuala Lumpur.

The centre of the district is the pedestrianised Jalan Alor with its restaurants and street food stalls. Jalan Alor is bursting at the seams after dark and is definitely the most crowded street in Kuala Lumpur.
What to experience in Bukit Bintang?
A vibrant, lively atmosphere and lots of people. That's how you can describe Bukit Bintang in one sentence.
It's lively especially at night, but even during the day, many businesses and restaurants are open and the streets are already filling up by early afternoon.
Food stalls, restaurants and nightclubs are usually open all night until the early hours of the morning.
Bukit Bintang is all about food and fun. Central Jalan Alor is food-centric, while the surrounding streets are lined with bars, shops, tattoo parlours and a huge number of massage parlours, not all of which offer only massages.
The atmosphere here is, after all, much quieter and more respectable than, say, Bangkok's famous Sukhumvit district.
The best street food in town?
Bukit Bintang is named by many tourist websites as the best neighbourhood for authentic street-food in Kuala Lumpur.
We would tend to say that Bukit Bintang is the best place for fun bars, karaoke and shops, but the street-food is geared very much towards tourists, with correspondingly higher prices and lower quality.
If you're looking for more authentic places with local cuisine, we'd recommend the neighborhoods of Kampung Baru and Chow Kit.
Accommodation in Bukit Bintang
Love the lively nightlife atmosphere and looking for a centrally located location with good transport links?
Then Bukit Bintang is the place to be.
The district is also a great choice for those looking for really cheap accommodation. We would recommend these well rated hotels with prices below 50 usd per night:
If you prefer better quality hotels, you might find the following hotels on the outskirts of the district (within a 10 minute walk to central Jalan Alor):
