The 10 best hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur, despite its vastness and size, is a fairly easy metropolis to navigate.
There's no need to spend too much time wondering where to stay, as there's only one centre and most of the essentials are within walking distance, two to three metro stations at most.
KLCC (Modern Centre)
The number one location is definitely the KLCC district near the Petronas Towers, where you'll find quality 4* and 5* hotels in high-rise buildings with beautiful views of the illuminated twin towers.
- Traders Hotel ***** - A good compromise of quality and price, the hotel has a great location right on the edge of KLCC Park.
- Mandarin Oriental KL ***** - The top hotel is part of the Suria Shopping Centre complex and Petronas Towers. Compared to other hotels of the same brand in other cities, the rates here are friendly from 200 usd per night.
- Ascott Star KLCC KL ***** - One of the top rated hotels with a great rooftop pool.
There are also many private budget apartments in the area with prices from 80 usd per night.

Old Centre
The area around Chinatown and the Jamek Mosque is considered the original city centre. Along Pasar Seni Station, you'll find plenty of budget and mid-range hotels.
We would recommend these hotels with good ratings and prices from 35 usd.
- Travelodge KL City Centre **** - Traditional chain of budget 4* hotels
- Pacific Express Hotel Chinatown ** - a very popular budget hotel just off Petaling Street
- B Hotel Kuala Lumpur *** - modern hotel in the middle of busy Petaling Street
This area is just perfect for travellers who want to save money, don't mind very small rooms often without windows, but also want to stay in the centre of the action with good transport links.
Bukit Bintang
The biggest tourist district full of bars, karaoke, restaurants, upscale shopping malls and street-food streets is suitable for those who like to bustle until late at night.
- citizenM KL Bukit Bintang **** - A classic international chain of budget 4* hotels located on the southern edge of the district
- SS Grey Hotel KL *** - a very cheap hotel right in the centre of Bukit Bintang
- ibis Styles KL Bukit Bintang *** - classic ibis just steps away from the main pedestrian area of Jalan Alor
Neighbourhood railway station
If you like a higher standard and good access to major transport hubs, look for hotels near KL Sentral station.
Several metro, suburban and long-distance train lines cross here.
- Hilton Kuala Lumpur ***** - A traditional 5-star brand at an affordable price directly opposite the station building
- Aloft KL Sentral **** - great value for money inside the Nu Sentral shopping centre
- The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur ***** - one of the best hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Then in the Indian Quarter opposite the train station you'll find a large number of really cheap hotels.

Hotels with the best view
Kuala Lumpur is a city of skyscrapers, so the hotels with the best views are a special category.
This is a criterion that we ourselves put a lot of weight on when choosing our accommodation.
- Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur ***** - The hotel is located right in the world's 2nd tallest skyscraper, Merdeka 118
- Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur ***** - The 5th tallest building in Kuala Lumpur is directly opposite the Petronas Twin Towers and the rooms offer the best views of the modern city centre
- Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur ***** - A great hotel with views of both the Petronas Towers and Menara Tower
Our tip - where we stayed
We also add our personal experiences of where we have stayed when staying in Kuala Lumpur.
Our last stay was in August 2025, when I chose a hotel based on the view and whether it had a rooftop pool.
In the end, the choice fell on the Imperial Lexis KL 5*, which not only has a rooftop pool, but even a private pool right on the balcony of the rooms.
Check out our detailed review of our stay at the Imperial Lexis.
Prices
Guesthouses with shared rooms in the narrow downtown area range between 20 usd and 25 usd per room per night, and private bathrooms are standard.
An average quality hotel with 3 to 4 stars can be found for between 35 usd and 45 usd per room. Breakfast is usually included and the number of stars may not be telling.
In Kuala Lumpur, however, luxury 5-star hotels from well-known multinational chains are also affordable and prices start from as low as 80 usd per night.
You can easily compare available accommodation on booking.com/kuala-lumpur and other search engines.
As Kuala Lumpur is not a typical tourist or seasonal destination, prices are at a similar level across the year.

I have to commend the tip on the Pacific express Central market hotel. (Central market is important because there is another one of that name). Everything important within walking distance, price good, room with window 850 CZK. Swimming pool anyway, view of the Petronas? I can see the top of one tower, but that's not the point. I would just recommend to add the nearby metro stations: Pasar Seni (the smartest of Central) ev. Kuala Lumpur, or Masjid Jamek. All 5 minutes on foot.
